156 million Americans to shop on Super Saturday
The biggest shopping day of the holiday season is approaching, with 68% of Americans planning to or considering taking advantage of Super Saturday deals tomorrow, according to a survey released today by NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics. The 156 million shoppers expected for Super Saturday would outpace the 154 million estimated for Thanksgiving weekend.

Meijer maintains holiday tradition with in-store giveaway
Meijer continued a Christmas tradition last Saturday of giving one shopper in each of its 230 stores all the products in their cart. The randomly selected winners also received $100 gift cards to give to someone in need and the cashiers helping the customers were given $100 gift cards.

Wegmans to open a store in suburban Harrison, N.Y.
Wegmans will build a two-story grocery in Harrison, N.Y., on the 20-acre site of an office complex slated for demolition. The company long has sought a workable site in suburban Westchester County, CEO Danny Wegman said last year.

Retailers court last-minute shoppers with discounts, incentives
More retailers are cutting prices and offering special promotions to offset a slower post-Black Friday period than last year and turn this Saturday into the biggest sales volume day of 2016. Wal-Mart is offering free Christmas Eve pickup services for last-minute shoppers, and Macy’s is giving away gift cards in many of its stores.
