Boer: Multichannel approach keeps Ahold Delhaize competitive
Combining fresh offerings in brick-and-mortar stores as well as online and via home delivery allows Ahold Delhaize, owner of the Food Lion and Hannaford banners in the US, to compete with companies like Wal-Mart and Amazon Fresh, said CEO Dick Boer. “Customers search not only for value, they also search for product quality and freshness,” he said.

Report: Global bottled water market could nearly double by 2022
The global market for bottled water, valued at $170 billion in 2015, could almost double by 2022, according to an analysis by Allied Market Research. “The functional bottled water segment is expected to witness the highest growth, owing to increasing consumer inclination towards energy-based beverages with added minerals,” said Allied Market Research’s Eswara Prasad.

Hy-Vee embraces ugly produce with Misfits program
Hy-Vee is fully on board the “ugly” produce movement with its adoption of Robinson Fresh’s Misfits line in nearly all of its 242 grocery stores across eight Midwestern states. ShopRite Supermarkets Names New President
ShopRite Supermarkets Inc. (SRS), which owns and operates 34 ShopRite stores in New Jersey and New York, has named industry veteran Brett Wing president of the company. He replaces Dave Figurelli, who retired this month after 15 years with the company.

Target to be major soccer sponsor under new CMO
Target announced that its new chief marketing officer will be Rick Gomez, and that it will serve as an official partner of Major League Soccer. The retailer has also become the jersey sponsor for Minnesota United FC, which is the official retailer of US Youth Soccer and presenting sponsor during the Target United Cup.
